Mission:
The Governor's Council on Disability works to promote employment of people with disabilities and create a climate in which all Missourians with and without disabilties have equal opportunity for full participation in all aspects of communty life. We educate the public to reduce stereotypes and promote more accurate images of disability in the community. We represent needs, issues, and concerns of people with all types of disabilities in the formation of public policy.
Function:
The Governor's Council on Disability's makes persons with disabilities aware of their rights and opportunities; increases employment opportunities for job seekers with disabilities; expands access to equal and full participation for all individuals with any type of disability in their communities at local, state, and federal levels; and changes the delivery system for assistive technology devices and services.

Compensation: Members receive reimbursement for realized and necessary expenses.
Member Requirements: at least 11 members must be individuals with disabilities; others must include individuals with a family member with disabilities or advocates for disability issues; all members must be knowledgeable about disability-related issues and have demonstrated a commitment to full participation of people with disabilities in all aspects of community life. The Chair of the board must be confirmed by the Senate, other members of the board are not.
